R. Kenneth LINDELL for MAINE HOUSE
Issues and Endorsements
Key issues in the upcoming legislature:

  • State Budget:  Tax and fee increases as well as short term gimmicks and accounting tricks have been used bu the Democratic Maine Legislature and the Baldacci administration to balance the budget over the last six years.  It is time to change the way we do business in the State government.  We need to set priorities and cut spending on unnecessary projects so that we can restore fiscal responsibility to the State budget.
  • Schools School districts need to be held accountable for both the results they produce and the money they spend on administration and overhead.  Parents should also be able to choose their children's schools and bring the State's portion of school funding with them.
  • Health Care:  Health insurance needs to be made more affordable.  Mainers should have access to the same insurance policies that are available in other States and that cost up to half the price we pay for health insurance in Maine. Hospitals also need to be paid what they are owed by the State for services rendered to MaineCare patients.
